LASU VC ASKED LASUMUC, STAFF & STUDENTS FOR CONTINUOUS SUPPORT FOR HER ADMINISTRATION & DEVELOPMENT OF LASU

As community unveils 100 1st class graduands

As the 28th Convocation Ceremony of Lagos State University entered Day 2, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, has once again asked for the continuous support of the Lagos State University Muslim Community (LASUMUC), staff and students, which she believed would galvanise development and growth of the university as the institution continues its quest for expansion as well as actualisation of becoming the best in the comity of universities in Sub-Sahara Africa.
The university Numero Uno made this plea, at the Special Jumat Service held at the premises of the Central Mosque, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, on Friday, 4th April 2025.

In her address, she recalled that this would be the fourth Convocation in a stretch that she would be in charge and she attributed this to the support of the Muslim Community, staff and students, with recourse to uninterrupted academic sessions as well as all round peace and stability at the institution.
She urged members of the university community to continue supporting her administration as this would assist the university achieve accelerated growth and maintain its place as a leading university, not only in Nigeria, West Africa and the World.
“I appreciate the Muslim Community for its support. This is the fourth Convocation ceremony, back to back, since I became the VC. I appreciate the support. We are all working together to take LASU to the great heights. Without the students, we won’t be here. Let’s continue working together, don’t let us rest on our oars”, she stated.

She added that the number of first class students, this year could be attributed to merit driven admission process of the university. She thanked the lecturers as well as the administrative staff for the hard work, which culminated in the success.
She wished all the graduands more successes in life as she ended her speech.

The Chairman, LASUMUC, Professor Babatunde Yusuf thanked the Vice-Chancellor for her love and continuous support for the Muslim Community. He congratulated her on yet another Convocation Ceremony.

The Chief Imam and Chairman, Imam-in-Council, LASUMUC, Distinguished Professor Amidu Sanni, presided over special prayer for the graduands, the Vice-Chancellor, the University Management and the entire LASU community.

Just before the reception commenced, Professor Olatunji-Bello, was taken round the LASUMUC Guest House and the event centre under construction at the Mosque premises led by Professor Yusuf.

In a related development, during the special Jumah service, the Chief Imam admonished the graduands to continue to demonstrate high level of intelligence, be respectful, demonstrate high level of humility and be focused.
He tasked their parents to always guide as they are still in their formative years. He asked Allah to provide them with good jobs and asked them to be good ambassador of their alma mater.

Other members of the University Management team present at the well attended Ceremony are the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni Afisi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Adenike Boyo, Registrar, Mr Emmanuel A. Fanu, Bursar, Mr said Babatunde Olayinka and the University Librarian, Dr Omawumi Makinde.

Deans, Deputy Registrars, Deputy Bursars, Directors and other high ranking officers of the University were equally present.

Members of Imam-in-Council on hand at the event are Professor Qudus Amuni, Dr Salman Yunus, Dr Dauda Oniyide and Dr Uthman Sideeq.
