Professor Amidu Olalekan SANNI

Professor Amidu Sanni is a foundation staff of the University and has been the University Imam since 1984 to date. He instituted the Imam-In-Council in 1990 to accommodate other members of the clerical class who function as members the Mission Board. He thus serves as the Chairman of the Imam-In-Council and the Chief Imam of the University. He has represented the Muslim community of LASU at local, national, and international forums. He is the first Muslim professor to be awarded the status of Distinguished Professor of African & Middle Eastern Studies. He has over 200 publications to his credit in Arabic, English, and German.

Prof. Abdul Kabir Olawale Paramole
a renowned authority on Islamic studies who joined the Imam-In-Council in 2025. A member of several University statutory committees and a remarkable administrative experience spanning over a decade, Professor Paramole is a first-rate propagator of Islam and community leader with several publications to his credit in local and International outlets. He is the Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Lagos State Chapter, and the Chief Missionary of Jejewiyyat Muslim Association of Nigeria and overseas with a remarkable network within the academic world and the larger society.

Dr ONIBON, Nosiru Olajide
Dr ONIBON, Nosiru Olajide obtained his B.A., M.A. in Arabic and PGDE from the Lagos State University (LASU) in 1992, 2000 and 2012 respectively. He also bagged an MSc in International Relations from the University of Ibadan in 1998. He later got his PhD. in Arabic Studies from the International Islamic University, Malaysia in 2007
He joined the academic stream of LASU as a Graduate Assistant in 1999 and rose to the position of an Associate Professor of Arabic in 2017. He served as the Provost of the Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED) Noforija, Epe (2019-2023) and as the Pioneer Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) from March 2022 – July 2023. He has been an active and leading missionary with NASFAT since 2001, aside from other engagements in religious and community services in Nigeria and abroad. He joined the LASU Imam-In-Council in January 2025.

Mustapha Adebayo Bello

Short profile: Mustapha Adebayo Bello obtained his B.A. in Islamic Studies in 1980, M.A and PhD in 1994 and PhD 2017 respectively. He joined the academic staff of LASU in 2009 and rose steadily to be a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Religions and Peace Studies in 2022. His research focus is on the adaptability of the orientations of non-Muslims, converts, and reverts to the ideals of mainstream Islam. He was a receipient of the Leventis Fellowship Scholarship in 2018 which enabled him to pursue a postdoctoral fellowship at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) Center of African Studies (CAS) University of London. With a number of outstanding publications to his credit, Dr Mustapha Adebayo BELLO is a seasoned preacher and propagator of Islam. He became a member of the LASU Imam-In-Council in 2017.

Prof Olayinka Kudus AMUNI, studied Arabic at the Lagos State University, he bagged his M.A. and PhD both from the University of Ibadan. He was at various times in the Sudan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt for various professional courses in Arabic language studies. He is an academic staff member of LASU and rose through the ranks to become a Professor. He has attended several international conferences at home and abroad and published widely in first-rate outlets. He is a member of the LASU Imam-In-Council

Salman Alade Yunus

Salman YUNUS is an academic staff member of Lagos State University (LASU), Nigeria. He received his B.A. in Arabic language and literature, First Class in 1999 from LASU, M.A. (2004) and PhD (2018) also from LASU. As an undergraduate student, he was the Amir (President) of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigerian (LASU Branch) in the 1998/1999 session. He has been on the academic train of the University since 2001. He is a brilliant propagator of Islam and a community spirited person. He joined the Imam-in-Council of the Muslim Community in 2003. He is married with children.

Daud A. Oniyide

Daud Oniyide obtained his first degree in Arabic Language & Literature 2004, M.A. in Arabic 2008 and PhD in 2018 from the Department of Foreign Languages in 2000. He was appointed as a Graduate Assistant in in 2007 and, through a dint of hard work, rose to the position of a Senior Lecturer in 2020. He has held various administrative positions in the University, including membership of the Quality Assurance Committee and the coordinatorship of the Arabic PG programmes, among others. He has published reasonably well and participated at many conferences. A thorough-bred missionary with a remarkable preaching experience in Islamic organisations, he is currently the Secretary of the LASU Imam-In-Council, which he joined in 2009. He is a member of several national and international professional organisations.

Dr. Sidiq, Uthman Okanlawon, (Kàdàrà) had his B. A. in Islamic studies from the University of Ilorin in 2005, M. A. in 20012 and PhD in 2017 from Lagos state University.
He joined the academic staff of LASU in 2021 and was nominated to join the Imam-In-Council in January 2025.
